About Long Term Bookings

Long-term bookings are bookings of 7-14 days and are available June through September. Each Sailing Member in good standing is entitled to ONE long-term booking per year, provided that:

  • Membership fees are paid
  • Volunteer hours are completed and on file
  • Orientation V is completed and CYA and VHF certifications are on file

Deposit

 A cheque for $500.00 dated May 1st  must be attached when you submit your reservation form to guarantee your booking. Reservation forms received without a cheque will not be processed. The deposit cheque will be destroyed after your cruise, or if you cancel 31 days before your booking departure date, or if you find another member to take over your booking reservation. Your cheque may be cashed to cover any expenses incurred if you fail to cancel or cannot find a replacement within 30 days before your booking departure date. The deposit may also be cashed as partial payment if there is loss or damage to the boat or anything on board, during your booking. In case of any damage, you are responsible for up to the amount of the insurance deductible of $1000.00. 

Volunteer Hours

A minimum of 80% of your required volunteer hours must be completed before taking your long term booking.

  • Single memberships require a total of 30 volunteer hours 80% = 24 HOURS.
  • Joint memberships require a total of 40 volunteer hours 80% = 32 HOURS.

Important information for Skippers about your Long Term Booking

Change in your plans?

If you cannot take your allotted booking, please inform the LongTerm Booking Coordinator as soon as possible, as others may want your slot. If you fail to cancel or we cannot find a replacement  within 30 days before your departure date, your deposit cheque may be cashed to cover expenses. 

Turnover

You must turnover your cleaned boat at the appointed time and place indicated by the Long– Term Booking Coordinator or as arranged with the following Skipper. Gas, propane and water tanks must be full and the holding tank empty. Please use pump-out facilities unless you are more than three miles from shore. 
 
You are responsible for confirming and cocoordinating your turnover arrangements with previous and following
skippers. Alternatively skippers may choose to turnover at any mutually agreed location and time, however please keep the LongTerm Booking Coordinator informed. Its good practice to exchange cell phone numbers well before you depart, so that you can be contacted if there is a problem.

Accidents and Damages

If you have an accident or the boat is damaged. please notify the Long Term Booking Coordinator and other Executive Members as soon as possible.
Your $500.00 deposit cheque may be cashed as partial payment if there is loss or damage to the boat or anything on board, during your booking. In case of any damage, you are responsible for up to the amount of the insurance deductible of $1000.00
